Pastor Nandu Gurung

Pastor N.K. (Nandu) Gurung is Asia's Hope's Regional Director for Northeast India. Nandu has been a pastor and evangelist in the Northeastern India region for decades along with his father and brother.

Nandu has served as a pastor since graduating from the Kathmandu Theological Seminary in Nepal in 1998. His ministry has taken him throughout the world. He served as a missionary and church planter to Malaysia in 2001 and has been the national coordinator for MAP (Ministries for Asia Pacific, based in Malaysia). He has also served God in South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, the U.K. and the U.S. 

Since 2000, Nandu has been teaching the Bible and theology to new pastors and Christians in the Northeastern India region, and in 2004 he founded a regional Bible Training Center for Pastors. This has afforded Nandu the opportunity to meet and work with pastors from all over the regional cities, towns, villages and rural areas. 

In 2010, Nandu received his Masters of Theology from the University of Wales and his MBA from Sikkim Manipal University. 

Nandu and his wife, Anu, have two children, Apphia and Nicolas. For the past decade, he and his family have taken into their home orphaned children he met while evangelizing and training pastors in remote villages throughout the region. These children had no other hope and were at high risk of being trafficked for sexual or economic exploitation. Nandu accepted God's call to become a father to the fatherless, and he and his family eventually adopted 29 children into his home. In 2006, he officially founded the Grace Children's Home in Kalimpong. 

In 2009, Executive Board Member Dr. John Campbell introduced Nandu to John McCollum, Asia's Hope Executive Director. Soon after, Asia's Hope began making plans to work with Pastor Nandu in India.

In the fall of 2011, Grace Children's Home was officially adopted by Asia's Hope (now called Asia's Hope Kalimpong 1 Children's Home) — Asia's Hope's first project in Northeast India — and Pastor Nandu was hired to be Asia's Hope Regional Director for Northeast India. 

We are actively seeking new partnering churches so that we, with Nandu's leadership and guidance in India, will be able to open up to five new home in Northeastern India by the end of 2013, rescuing and raising more than 120 orphaned children.
