While his disabled mother was pregnant with him, Bunnaroth's father — a soldier in the Cambodian Army—disappeared, never to return.

Due to her extraordinary poverty and failing health, Bunnaroth's mother left him to live with an elderly grandfather. As a young boy, Bunnaroth tried to support himself and his grandpa by working long, strenuous hours on a fishing boat. This dangerous job left him no time or money to attend school, and barely provided enough food to survive.

When Asia's Hope rescued Bunnaroth at age 13, he was traumatized and malnourished.

Although he had never regularly attended school, Bunnaroth worked hard to catch up. And with the loving support of his Asia's Hope family at our Prek Eng 1 Home, he has now earned a degree in International Business Law from the prestigious Royal University of Law, and is now a graduate student at the highly selective Royal School of Administration. He has been identified as a promising candidate for a future position as a legislator, governor or public official.

Bunnaroth's possibilities are limitless. With leaders like him, his country's brightest days still lie ahead.

We're proud of Bunnaroth and all of the Asia's Hope graduates working hard to build a better future for themselves and their communities.
