An exciting opportunity for David and for Asia’s Hope

Satian “David” Preamjaisanchat is the son of Tutu, Asia’s Hope Thailand Country Director. David, his wife Rachel, and their young daughter Maiya are currently living in Columbus, Ohio. They hope to return one day to Thailand and work with orphaned and vulnerable kids at Asia’s Hope.

Summer 2019

Dear Friends,

I would like to thank everyone that has supported my family and me both financially and spiritually! My goal is to finish my 1st phase of interning with Asia’s Hope and continue my 2nd phase. My 1 phase started in October 2018 and will end in October 2019. I would like to continue my 2nd phase of interning overseas by heading back to Thailand and being on the field for a few months. The future of our organization is growing, and I would like to continue to be involved with this ministry, as this is the biggest ministry in my mother’s life. I’m very thankful that my mom Tutu has shared this wonderful passion for orphan care with me so I would like to contribute my knowledge and talents to Asia’s Hope.

I’m very grateful and would like to share my humbling experience of how much I have grown and learned about Asia’s Hope in the US. I experienced valuable work that is going on here daily to meet the needs of our donors and children in SE Asia. Although most of my work was involved with helping out Thailand, I grew in knowledge too. My skills might possibly be applied with work in Cambodia and in India in the future.

I also would like to mention the most important work I’ve done here on a daily basis. It is to interpret between cultures. This has helped aid understanding areas such as how to make records more organized in monthly reports. We are also learning how to create a better system of transferring important data that we need to update to our sponsors. I have learned so much from being in different meetings, such as meeting with Asia’s Hope sponsors, and the knowledge I receive on a daily basis from co-workers in our US office. It is so much information for me to absorb, but at the same time, I get to contribute my opinions and knowledge in the areas of my expertise. Also, Asia’s Hope members in the US especially my co-workers, got to know me better and we built a strong relationship as we worked at this ministry together. I will be doing the same relationship building once I return to Thailand with all of our staff and kids. This experience has given me the sense of how important it is to do administrative work so that we can make the change possible for the orphan kids’ lives.

I graduated from Johnson University in May 2016 and Rachel graduated from Johnson University in December 2017. We moved to Indiana and stayed with Rachel’s parents for a couple of months and we moved to Columbus in February 2018. We strongly wanted to be involved with Asia’s Hope ministry, so we worked on making it possible, through raising support,  and making sure it was the appropriate time through the patience of the Asia’s Hope staff. We became Ohio state residents in February 2018 and became a part of Central Vineyard Church. Central Vineyard has become our home church since then and we have met a lot of amazing people there. We were very blessed for a year to stay with a woman named Rosenna, an incredibly sweet and generous host. After that, Maiya was born in June 2018. Now that we have gotten on our feet in Columbus, we started renting our own place in February 2019.

We have missed our family in Thailand, and have been working hard to go back and work there. Our plan is to return in October and stay for at least 5 months. We just sent in everything we need to get our passports updated! We want to thank every single person that has helped support us in this transition to Columbus, and those who will continue to support us when we leave for Thailand, both financially and in prayer.

In Thailand, we will be extremely busy! There is always something we can do to help while we are there. I will still be helping with the communication between the US office and Thailand. I will also help with worship, and will most likely be preaching as well! We will be helping with Bible studies, devotions at the orphan homes, and will also be making our relationships with the staff and kids stronger. I want to offer a worship class as well, because our kids love to worship God through songs.

As you can imagine, it will take a lot of financial and prayer support to go to Thailand. Besides updating our passports (and getting Maiya’s first one!), there are many other expenses involved. First we will need to purchase airline tickets. We will also need to be able to pay our living expenses during our time in Thailand.

We will need $2,000 in support monthly for 5 months, which will be a total $10,000 of what we need for our time in Thailand. Our airline tickets will be around $4,000. That makes a total of $14,000. That number seems like a lot, but split between 100 people, that is $20 a month for 7 months, if you start now!

I was thinking about it, and that is about how much many subscription boxes cost today. I don’t know if you have seen the trend of subscription boxes becoming more popular this past year. You can get food, beauty products, clothing, and even diapers (we do this!), or anything you want sent straight to your door each month if you subscribe to a site and pay a monthly fee. It is a great idea, but you do not always know exactly what you are getting!

Think about supporting missions as a “spiritual subscription box”. You might not get to try out a new meal, or a new outfit, but you could be introducing an unbeliever to Christ. When supporting missionaries, it is likely that there will still be a few surprises, but the goal is always to spread the gospel. When someone’s eternity is on the line, there is nothing more valuable.

To support us financially, you can go to my fundraising website, https://asiashope.org/david , or you can send a check to Asia’s Hope at 296 W Fourth Ave. Columbus, OH 43201 and in the memo, write “Satian Thailand Ministry.” We will be sending out newsletters to everyone who has supported us!

Love in Christ,

David, Rachel and Maiya

October 2018 Letter

Dear Friend,

Can you imagine what it would be an orphaned child with no home, living each day at high risk of sexual and economic exploitation? My heart has been touched deeply by working with these kids in my home country of Thailand through the ministry of Asia’s Hope.

I’m excited to share that I’ve accepted a full-time, year-long internship at the Asia’s Hope office in Columbus, Ohio.

Asia’s Hope believes that orphaned children need real families, not institutions. We create stable environments with real, full-time moms and dads. And we’re working hard every day to provide a healthy, child-centered alternative to institutional orphan care at our 35 family-style homes in Cambodia, Thailand and India.

During my internship at the Asia’s Hope office in Columbus, I’ll be working on:

  • Editing and managing project photos

  • Updating website and social media

  • Acting as culture and language interpreter for our Thailand projects

  • Helping to connect Asia’s Hope with more churches

  • Increasing my knowledge, skills and ministry experience

I’m excited about this opportunity and the experience I’ll gain over the next 12 to 18 months. I hope you see the value in what we’ll accomplish. Since this internship is with a non-profit ministry, I’ll be responsible for raising my own support.

Because I’m married with a newborn baby, I’ll need to raise approximately $1,800 a month to provide for our living expenses. Rachel will be staying home to care for our three-month-old daughter, Maiya Joy.

I’m grateful for your willingness to consider supporting me financially and with your prayers, without which, none of this would be possible. If you do wish to support me financially during this internship, you may do so in the following ways:

  • Make a monthly or one-time donation at asiashope.org/david

  • Send a check to the Asia’s Hope office with “David” in the memo line: Asia’s Hope, 296 West Fourth Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43201

Thank you for your prayers and your support. I pray that God will continue to bless you and your family as you partner with me in this work.

In His service,

Satian “David” Preamjaisanchat

Others

- We would like to refresh our memory of where our children come from by going to visit their villages to re-connect, update what is going on there.

I’ve known David since he was a child in Thailand. Even as a teen, he was an energetic, intelligent and responsible servant of God!

I’m excited to have him join our office in the U.S., and I can’t wait to see what God will accomplish through David as he uses his skills and passion to benefit the orphaned kids of Asia’s Hope.
