Family Style Homes for orphaned children

At Asia's Hope, we believe that an orphaned and vulnerable child's deepest needs can only be met in the context of a loving family.

Only a fraction of the world’s orphans will ever be eligible for international adoption, and many cannot be cared for in their communities by relatives. This leaves untold millions of kids at risk of sexual and economic exploitation on the streets or neglect in institutional orphanages that can never provide the family they need and deserve.

We’re rethinking what residential care can be, and what kids placed in permanent non-family living programs can experience and achieve. We’ve designed each Asia’s Hope home to function like a family, not an institution.

Each home is run by a full-time, live-in married couple who become a father and a mother to children in their care. The home parents’ biological children live in the homes alongside their Asia’s Hope brothers and sisters. Kind aunts and grandmothers also live in the homes, providing additional guidance and day-to-day help maintaining the home.

Once a child is admitted to Asia’s Hope, they remain with their new family until they finish school. And, unlike nearly every other form of residential child care, our kids don’t “age out.” They’re given the time and the space they need to reach the highest level of education they can achieve.

And our kids are achieving at an unbelievably high level. In Cambodia, for instance, only about 12% of the adult population graduates high school. At Asia’s Hope Cambodia, however, 90% of our kids are on track to graduate. And more than 80% of our graduates will enter university or receive vocational training. We’re seeing the same kinds of results in Thailand and India as well.

We believe that we’re not only changing the lives of the children in our care, but the way we all think about orphanages as well. Your support of Asia’s Hope helps us lead orphan advocates toward better practices and new models that help vulnerable kids reach their full emotional, spiritual and economic potential.
