Statistically speaking, the kids at Asia’s Hope are not supposed to succeed. Of all the kids in the world, orphaned and— abandoned children in poor communities like the ones we serve are among the most vulnerable.

They’re the least likely to graduate high school; the most likely to be sexually exploited. They’re the least likely to continue on to higher education; they’re the most likely to die from poverty, disease, addiction or as victims of violent crime.

But our kids are thriving. They’re graduating high school and going on to university at higher rates than non-orphaned kids in their communities.

In fact, if Asia’s Hope was a country, its university graduation rate would rank among the world’s highest, nearly that of Japan, Canada and the United States.

Asia’s Hope is uniquely successful at transforming the lives and redeeming the futures of some of the world’s most vulnerable kids.

But we need your help to enrich opportunities for our current generation of kids, expand the number of kids we can rescue, and extend our model to others who want to learn from our successes.

They told us that long-term residential care would never produce positive outcomes for orphaned kids. They told us that a children’s home could never be a real family.
We proved them wrong.

We’re succeeding in three countries. Three different systems of government. Three distinct religious environments. Three unique economic and educational settings — and despite all of these differences, one thing remains the same. Asia’s Hope kids are exceeding expectations.

And if you visit an Asia’s Hope home in Cambodia, Thailand or India, you’ll notice one thing right away: this doesn’t feel like an orphanage, it’s not an institution — it’s a family.

Kids who came in broken are, slowly, finding healing. Children who were scared, who had no hope for the future, are growing into confident young adults with a vision for their own future and for that of their society.

And you know what? It’s not just the kids. The adults who live and work at Asia’s Hope — many of whom were once vulnerable children themselves — enjoy a loving community that gives them the support they need to provide a real family for the kids in their care.

Asia’s Hope is built on three principles, each of which is an essential ingredient in our unique recipe for success: family-style care, community-based local leadership, and structural simplicity.

The first and most important principle is this: An orphaned child doesn’t need an institution, they need a family. So we build each of our homes around a married mom and dad, and their biological kids.

We also hire other live-in staff — not shift workers — to maintain a 1:5 minimum full-time adult caregiver-to-child ratio.

The second is community-based, local leadership. Asia’s Hope has more than 220 staff in Asia, and not one is from outside of the local community where our homes reside.

Cambodian parents raising Cambodian kids. Indian directors making decisions about projects in India. Thai hilltribe leaders building a ministry that meets the unique needs of Thai hilltribe children.

The third principle is intentional, strategic, structural simplicity. It helps that when we started out more than 20 years ago, none of the founders were looking for a career in the non-profit sector. We were simply responding to the needs we saw on the ground, as articulated by wise local leaders we’d come to trust.

So we learned to lead based on shared values and clearly-articulated mission objectives. This has allowed us to stay administratively efficient, consistently accomplishing more with less.

God is calling us to do even more, to reach beyond our historic ministry boundaries.

And as we embark on our third decade, the donor landscape is changing. The types of partnerships that brought us here are fewer and further between.

Asia’s Hope is about family-style, community-based care for the world’s most vulnerable kids. Period.

We’ve produced incredible outcomes for the first generations of our kids in Cambodia, Thailand and India, and we believe that the 35 homes we’ve already established will serve future generations of kids for decades to come.

But our facilities are aging, our scholarship needs are increasing, and our traditional primary sources of funding — churches who can sponsor an entire home — are facing increasing challenges of their own.

And we feel a strong calling to reach beyond our existing boundaries to help train new orphan care ministries outside of Asia’s Hope to implement our model in places we’ll never reach directly. Places like Burundi, Kenya, Costa Rica and Mexico.

To do this, we’re going to need more year end donations. More regular givers, more corporate sponsors, and more whole home sponsors.

But most important? We need everyone who loves Asia’s Hope to continue in generosity, and for those who can, to increase their giving level.

As we build on our decades of success and grow into the vision God’s given us for the future, we need to start 2024 strong.

Will you make a generous gift — and will you consider becoming a regular, monthly supporter?

Make a generous gift to help us meet our $250,000 first quarter giving goal.

By helping us raise $250,000 between January 1 and March 31, you’ll ensure that we have the resources we need to providing family-style care and high-quality education to our 819 children — 93 of whom we rescued in 2023 — and continued employment for our 224 local staff in Cambodia, Thailand and India.

And prayerfully consider what you can give on a monthly basis.

And when you become a regular, monthly supporter, you allow us to not only respond to needs — and opportunities — as they arise throughout the year.

You’ll also give us the ability to expand the number of kids we can rescue, introduce new programs in math, science and the arts, and extend outside of Asia’s Hope by funding mentorship programs, curriculum development and externships for people who want to learn and apply our uniquely effective model around the world.
