The kids had a fantastic time over the Christmas holiday — the home parents and staff of Asia's Hope in India worked extremely hard, bringing all of the 5 homes together for a time of feasting and fellowship, and throwing what turned out to be a truly memorable celebration.
A big thank you to our staff in India and to all of our partnering churches and organizations in the US who make this possible!
Thank God, the children and staff in Kalimpong, India, are safe and sound.
This morning, we received word from our leadership in India that a massive monsoonal rainfall, combined with the aftereffects of the recent earthquakes in the region, have caused truly horrifying landslides in our region — local news outlets are reporting at least 35 dead in Darjeeling. According to our staff, even our town of Kalimpong was not spared from the the destruction, with 14 confirmed deaths. We've also been told that a landslide occurred just below the Kalimpong 1 children's home (necessitating that a containment wall be built ASAP), and homes 2 and 5 are now accessible only on foot.
The staff and kids of Asia's Hope India, and everyone else residing in the region, are now contending with impassable roads, badly damaged electric grids and communication infrastructure, as well as continuing monsoonal downpours.
Blow by blow, our staff is taking things as they come. Please keep Asia's Hope India in your prayers.
Asia's Hope is committed to insuring that our kids have the opportunities they need to thrive in their cultures of origin. We now operate three schools: (1) located in Kalimpong, India; (2) located in Prek Eng, Cambodia; and (3), our newest school project, located in Battambang, Cambodia.
We're excited to announce that our Asia's Hope School in Kalimpong, India, has a sponsor! Along with our staff and teachers in India, we are so grateful to Real Wood Floors of West Plains, MO, for their partnership and their desire change orphans' lives through education.
Our primary focus is providing families for orphaned children through our unique, indigenous-led model. Sometimes, especially when local school systems are failing or our kids simply are not ready to be mainstreamed into this system because of their challenging early-life circumstances, we need to start a great school.
And a great school is what we are building in Kalimpong. We already have an extremely hardworking, sacrificially dedicated teaching and tutoring staff, lead by our amazing administrator Mrs. Wanglamu — but now, thanks to the vision and generosity of our new partners, we can really invest in making this a place where disadvantaged, orphaned children can realize their true potential.
A huge "thank you" to the leadership and staff at Real Wood Floors!
You, your business or your church can help us provide rich educational experience for the orphaned kids in our care. We still need dedicated partners who want to help us operate our schools in Prek Eng and Battambang, Cambodia. Reach out to us. We'd love to hear from you.
