Doi Saket 1 -- May update

Doi Saket 1 home has recently undergone a major transformation. In the future, this post will be split into four, representing the four new homes that have been made from the one big home.

Asia's Hope Thailand Director Tutu Bee poses with some of the boys from DS1.

All the kids pitch in on the chores.

Each of these homes are now single-family dwellings, with their own kitchens and dining areas.

All of our kids love to wear their traditional tribal garb.

A note of thanks from our first college graduate!

We received this letter from Jinda, who came to live at our Doi Saket 1 children's home at age 17. She has 11 siblings, and came from a destitute family who could not care for even their basic needs. She is the very first of many, many success stories we will be able to share with you over the next few years. Thank you for your prayers and support for Jinda and all of the kids at Asia's Hope!

Dear Asia's Hope supporters,

First of all I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your faithful support for me since the beginning until now. You have made it possible for me to complete my studies in university to help prepare me for my future. I have received my Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics. And for this, I am eternally grateful! I will always remember your love and continue to pray for you.

It is with great regret that I have nothing to give you in return. I just recently married and my husband and I have moved to Bangkok. I believe that God has led us both to this decision allowing us to be life partners to serve Him. Please pray for me and my family. I am attaching a photo of the two of us.

My husband is also from the Hmong tribe and from a Christian family. He has also completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities.

Again thank you for investing your resources in me and encouraging me in my life pursuits! May God bless you and your family!

Sincerely,

Jinda Wongnapasawan

Doi Saket 1 transformation

Thanks to the hard work of our Thai staff and the generosity of Chets Creek Church in Jacksonville, Florida, we've successfully transitioned Doi Saket 1 from a single facility with 80 kids to 4 separate homes with about 20 kids each.

This required significant strategic planning and a large financial commitment. Over the past few months, we've repurposed existing buildings and added new bathrooms, kitchens, dividing walls and furnishings -- all with the goal of providing each child at DS1 the benefits of a nuclear family.

The new homes -- tentatively named DS1a, b, c and d -- are now up an running, and the kids are beginning what we pray will be a short transition to their new, smaller family. Instead of eating together with all the other kids in one big room, each family now cooks their own meals, enjoyed in their own dining room.

All of the staff and kids are thankful for the many, many sponsors and donors who continue to look out for their best interest.

Even though they're from different tribes -- Lisu, Lahu, Akha, Hmong, Karen -- these sisters are part of one family. These boys appreciate their new bedroom! These boys, dressed in traditional Karen tribe shirts, are happy to be a part of a diverse, loving family.

Battambang 3 December update

The buses head out of Battambang early to take the kids on the all-day drive to Sihanoukville to celebrate Christmas with all the staff and kids from Asia's Hope's Cambodian 11 orphan homes.

The kids and staff enjoyed a long weekend of special activities, assemblies, fun and food, and are grateful for the opportunity to celebrate Christmas in such a special way.

Merry Christmas from Asia's Hope Thailand!

All of the kids and staff from our 7 orphan homes in Thailand wish their friends, sponsors and supporters in the U.S. and Canada a very merry Christmas!

They're currently celebrating the holiday with special meals, assemblies, gifts and outings, all provided by the generosity of their brothers and sisters from the other side of the world.

Congratulations to Tutu and Dan!

On November 6 in Chiang Mai, Thailand, our country director Tutu Bee married Daniel Abourmad. The wedding was attended by the staff and kids of Asia's Hope, as well as a few friends and supporters who made the trip from North America to join the happy couple.

Please pray God's blessings on Tutu and Dan and their new family.

New house for Doi Saket 3

Last week Asia's  Hope Thailand celebrated the dedication of a beautiful new home on the campus shared by Doi Saket 3 and Doi Saket 4.

This home was built immediately adjacent to original wooden structure that was built when DS3 was founded in 2008. Thanks to the generosity of Grace Community Church in Fremont, Ohio, which sponsors both DS3 and DS4, the kids and staff will enjoy a much larger facility with ample space for living, cooking and playing.

Thank God for his loving provision for his children!
